        Good Heavens People!!!
        Lighten up!!!
If those of you who take issue with the threads of recent would just
use the
digest or web or whatever instead of subscribing to the list, the
rest of us
would be much happier. I have been on this list for almost five
years and
most everyone who posts here has information to offer. I like the
diversity
of the group, warts and all. Sometimes, threads get a little
carried away,
but if left alone they usually run their course and fade away. If
you don't
care about the thread, don't open the message! Delete it. It's just
that
        easy.

        Steven

PS: I'm sure I'm just having a bad day because things such as this
don't
usually ruffle my feathers so much. Maybe the same can be said for
Rowland.
        Anyway, sorry for the rant!

I must say that this is a whole lot more irrelevant that the GPS
conversions
that were being conducted a few weeks ago! Please take this
conversation
        somewhere else.

I Gallon (4 quarts) is equal to 8 pints which (by an illogical twist
of your
own equation) is equal to eight miles. The cubed root of this is 2
miles
(126,720 inches)- and if you could find a cubic container whose
sides are
that big it would be precisely big enough to hold the exact number
of smoots
required to measure the MIT bridge.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the vanishing empires,

It may be a positive sign that bridges are measured in how many
drunken students can lie in one row on them or that the definition
of a mile - as I have been told by a consumer of real ale - is as
far as a man can walk before getting thirsty.

However I will not succumb to that system till one of you tell me
how to calculate the measurements in inches of a cubic container
containing one empirical gallon of ale - without using the metric
        system in the process!

I challenge all of you to do that.
