Peter,

Use MI Proviewer, available for free at the MI site. It looks like 
regular MI, so you get to keep the pretty look of your maps. 

Set up your workspaces so that the data are in the directory 
tree under the workspace, and you will not have to worry 
about the drive letter of your client's CD.

Check your work spaces with a text editor to 
change the C:\MI project\data reference to \data. 

ie:
MI Project directory (with workspaces)
    Data directories

If you need to link to databases that the client may change, then you have
to add a few lines
of map basic to the workspaces so that the files will freshly link each
time. To do this,
open a basic window, create a sample link to the database, and copy the
basic text into the appropriate
location in the workspace. (Once you do this, you cannot save the workspace
again, as it will
be overwritten.)
