We have a spatial photography system that georeferences either video
segments, video images, or digital imagery for Kodak's 290 cameras. Such
spatial imagery can be automatically brought into MapInfo Professional
workspaces. The spatial image slice and dice for image preparation and
spatial indexization is a MapX 4.5 application and is known as MediaMapper
(aka VMS200).

Version 3.0 of MediaMapper and its newly Trimbalized GPS portion, VMS200
will be available in June 27th.

When a video camera is used, the camera's position can be post processed to
+/- a meter or so. For Kodak imagry that uses a non-differentially correct
GPS signal expect a camera position error of +/- 8 to 30 meters depending on
statistic used (CEP vs 2RMS) and SA=OFF.

When SONY video cameras are used we can add a compass via the "hotshoe" that
provides the camera's pointing direction as well as +/- 20 degrees of
elevation. If range to photo target is also wanted the MediaMapper system
can also be integrated to a number of laser range finders and Leica Range
Finder Binoculars (1000 or 1500 meters with integrated compass) as well.
Accuracy of these tested laser devices is well within the +/- one meter
accuracy of the post-processed differential correction.

The software will index all the images or video segments and place hot icons
in MapInfo Workspaces. Click on the icon and see the image or vidoe segment.
Voice and other "tabular" information can be captured as well.

The US Forest Service has just purchased a number of the MediaMapper systems
to document timber sales, pre-sale inventory, satelite ground truthing,
forest infrastructures, road conditions, drainage protection, and fire
situation, its effects, and area.

Subject: MI MapInfo and Forestry Companies

Hi all

We have a client (who is a Forestry company) who use MapInfo.

They were therefore wondering if there is any other forestry companies who
use MapInfo (and may also have Forestry related apps built with or for
MapInfo)

They would really appreciate any feedback (esp from Australian/NZ companies)

Regards
Rob Rowell
