In summary I did not get any answers from the
List.
I conclude (until proven wrong) that MapInfo does
not handle the Vertical near-side perspective projection. However, Arcview does.
Maybe a future version of MapInfo will allow for this
projection...
In the meantime for those interested I've put up
two simple maps showing the smoking population in percentage for Canada for 1985
and 1999.
Which province has the highest percentage of
smokers?
Does Eastern Canada smoke more or less the Western
Canada?

I would like to know if MapInfo can somehow handle
a Vertical near side perspective
projection.
In the past I've used ArcInfo to reproject the data
and import it back in MapInfo using a "non-earth" setting. It worked OK,
however this time around I would like to know if I can bypass this step.
