Hi David -
I think I'll have the solution to your problem.. I've have a MapBasic
application (in beta stage) for a to slice, split and merge MapInfo tables.
You can:
* remove unwanted fields from a table
* Append several input tables into one result table
* select rows from a table with alphanumeric and geographical queries,
i.e splitting one input table into several result tables.
* cross two input tables over a common field and put fields from both
tables into your result table
* All the functions can be done in one operation.
* You can specify an ulimited number of input and output tables.
* The resulting data can be appended to an existing file, or you can
create a new result tab-file.
The program works by reading instructions from a ini file, and its designed
to start from a dos command line (i.e "MapInfow.exe splitnslice.mbx") . The
MB program can be instructed to shut MapInfo down. In short - Its designed
as a batch proccessing tool.
Two problems remains - Documentation and keywords in the ini-file is in
danish, and I'm not sure I have the time to translate it into english.
Secondly, the program is in beta -stage, meaning it will work as advertised,
but it's not stable regarding user errors in the ini-file containing
commands.
Send a couple of your MapInfo files as MIF/MID files and note about which
fields you want in the result file, and I'll make the command-ini file for
you. I'll send the ini-file + mbx program back to you. With these, you can
edit the ini-file to use other input files and -formats. In return I'll hope
you send some feedback (errors, suggestions...)
Based on your feedback, I will consider translation from danish to english
(and eventually releasing it as shareware or freeware).
