My understanding is that ISO-SQL3 is a.k.a SQL/MM ie multimedia. This
refers to the storage/manipulation/retrieval etc. of video, image, audio and
geo objects. The way ORACLE and Microsoft fight things out don't hold your
breath for this to all fall into place! ORACLE will go for 1 thing,
MicroSloth for another - maybe i am being too pessimistic! Anyway, ask yr
MI supplier to find out more for you! MI has such close intimate contact
with ORACLE (sure!) they should be able to provide all the info you want.
Unless you are looking at the storage of all these mm types I would not have
thought this would be of particular interest to you - a spatial
implementation would encompass ISO SQL2. Hopefully others will contribute as
I am also interested in how far this has got - perhaps even sorted now?
You mean the traffic in london is directed????!!! - only joking :)
regards
doug

Subject: MI ISO SQL3
Dear users,
I have been investigating the implementation of a spatial database
within our organisation and keep coming across references to ISO SQL3
(and conformity to said ISO). Does anybody know if this ISO has a
reference number, or what this reference is related to?
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Daniel Irwin
