Hi Steve

D2M

An MDL that creates *.mif and *.mid files

Its excellent

MicroStation to MapInfo Translator (D2M) provides the user with an easy to
use
tool to translate any MicroStation design file into MapInfo .mif and mid
files. The translator supports 2-D and 3-D design files (heights/z-value)
and/or
Database Information.

D2M runs as an MDL application and therefore provides the user with the
familiar look and feel of MicroStation. D2M is a menu drive application with
predefined symbology default values supplied - these values can be changed
to reflect user specific requirements.

D2M enables the user to separate the data residing in a design file, based
on
level and/or element type definition(s). Up to 63 separate .mif and .mid
sets of
files may be generated from one design file. D2M provides the
ability to
define, store and retrieve user defined setups - Individual setups
may be
         established for different design files.

D2M maintains MicroStation symbology (color, weight, style) as well
as font
definitions. The corresponding (as close as possible) MapInfo values
are provided - however the user can modify the symbology as required.
D2M preserves the integrity of MicroStation cells by replacing them
with MapInfo symbols or processing all cell components.

D2M provides the user with powerful capabilities for translating database
information associated with processed MicroStation elements. Three options
are provided :

Partial database transfer - this option translates only the
database
information which is available within the design file.

Full database transfer - the existing database table structure
is fully
converted into MapInfo .mid file, as well as data corresponding
to the
            translated design file element.

Tag transfer - the selected tag definition is fully converted
into
MapInfo .mid file, as well as tag data corresponding to the
            translated design file element.

In addition, D2M provides the facility to save Z-values into MapInfo .mid
file
as the additional /main attribute. The Z-value could be one of the Z ranges
(when stored with 2-D element) or the Z-value for 3-D element (average).
