Same here,

We have a number of orthos that are in use daily, being able to display 2 MB
orthos as layers in MapInfo is just fantastic. We use the orginal 80MB tif
files for printing at higher resloutions.

To see what can be done with .ecw files go to www.mapimagery.com
<http://www.mapimagery.com> and have a look at the beta mapimagery plugin
forr MapInfo. We used it to overlay two orthos, taken forty years apart,
made one transperant, and then digitised a vegetation change layer from the
obvious changes now visible!

Cheers
Dale

                Go ahead and try it!
I have been using it for more than a year, among other
purposes for GIS
                in MapInfo.
A great tool. Imagine scanning to max resolution, some 30-40
Mb, then
ECW compress it to 2-3 Mb, register the stuff in MapInfo and
voila!
                Zooming in becomes FUN!

Before, I had a crush for MrSid and Lizardtech - but they
won't let you
                try it unless you pay.
Forget MrSid - ECW is here to stay.

                Regards, Mats.E
