I run MI version 6 under NT
In running my interactive Mapbasic application
It comes up with error messages like :-
(APPNAME.MB 9999) Unable to open FNAME.ID. Too many files open.
The program location and the filename vary depending on the order of the
interactive actions. The occurence seemed to be greater under version 6 than
Version 5.5. With some recent necesary changes to the application the Error
has now become a Brick Wall
I have attempted to be more frugal with the use of files (around 48 tabs)
All files are on my C drive with some 467 mb free
The application uses selection & win change handlers and also writes to the
cosmetic layer.
Is there some setting to expand the limit
or another ideas Please

Never did get a response on this one. Thought it would be an easy
answer??!! Looked through as many old archive files as I could, but came up
with nothing.
One of my colleagues asked if I was accessing any of the layers over a
network. I was with this
particular workspace since there were so many and so large. They suggested
moving all the files
to my local machine's hardrive if I had the space. It worked. Maybe this
is your situation
and hopefully can help. If not post the question again, I look forward to
getting a real answer
in case it happens again.

Just upgraded to 6.0 and needed to know how I can increase the number of
files I can open in one workspace.
There are 74 tables to open in my .wor file. It used to work on my 5.5 with
no problems, now it stops towards the end of opening the workspace with the
error " too many files open..... can not finish opening....." I think I
remember being able to
increase the number in regedit somewhere???
Any help would be very much appreciated.
