Thanks to the hundreds of people who sent suggestions.  Here is the original
question with a summary of the replies.  I have only included those that I
thought were useful for earthquake hazard assessment.  In particular the FEMA,
SAIC and AGSO sites had decent resources including some software.  Sorry if I
haven't included some replies, but this would have been a long message if I had.

relate to using GIS for earthquake hazard assessment or risk assessment.  I
would be very grateful for any ideas - my searches so far have found very
