Developer / Programmer Support Analyst

Location: Berkshire


Do you think you can contribute to a small, multi-disciplined team that is 
responsible for providing solutions to desktop mapping problems?

Our customers, who recognise the strategic value of geographical 
information, range from blue-chips, to banks, telcos and government 
agencies. We use leading edge development tools, component based techniques 
and our systems take advantage of client-server architectures, relational 
databases, network connectivity and web based
technology.

The position holds the potential to develop knowledge of mobile telecomms, 
Oracle spatial technology and desktop mapping systems; relevant training 
will be provided as necessary.

Purpose of the job:

1)      Provide operational support for customer developed applications.
2)      Assist in the installation and configuration of development applications.
3)      Monitor and log support calls via worldwide tracking system.
4)      Liase with sales and consultant teams regarding customer issues.
5)      Escalate problems and variances to Support Team manager.
6)      Apply appropriate methods, standards, procedures and guidelines to all 
aspects of support work and complete tasks in accordance with Service Level 
Agreement timescales.
7)      Produce associated documentation and keep operational logs up to date.

Skills and Experience:

1)      Candidates should preferably be educated to HNC/HND/Degree level.
2)      Software development lifecycle knowledge and programming experience, 
including C, C++, VB and Java.
3)      Database design and development (SQLServer, Oracle, Access etc).
4)      Web development skills - Javascript, Active Server Pages, HTML.

Other skills which we would also find useful include:-
*Windows NT and network administration
*Knowledge of GIS and/or mapping applications
