Thankyou everyone who replied: Bob Young, Sheila Quan, Martin Hodder, Harry Bell and Andrei Veselov. The gist of the replies is that there is a problem when using rasters in seamless tables where each raster image requires a slightly different rotation/skew. A quick fix is to use the individual raster tables instead of the seamless tables. A better, but more expensive/time consuming solution would be to rectify and resample the rasters so they match the projection of the vector data. Suggestions for software to do this included (quote from Martin's e-mail): "The is a relatively cheap raster rectification tool called Rastools - Robert Edwards who sometimes contributes to the list. If my memory serves I think it was about $500 USD. "for more info have a look at http://home.earthlink.net/~edwardsrg/MapTools/RasTools.html" I'd like to add that you could rectify the images in Arc/Info as well - since we use Arc here, the additional cost isn't a problem! For people looking for an alternative to the Landmark maps, Harry Bell suggested: "...a company called Sitescope is offering, as far as I can tell, the same maps, but at a better resolution, and a bit cheaper than Landmark. So far, they are only selling the un-registered maps, but I have spoken to one of their reps who said they would be able to offer registered data in a couple of months. He did not tell me the price at the time.... "Check: http://www2.sitescope.co.uk/products/historicmaps.htm for more info." Anyway, thankyou everyone again, and have a good weekend. --------------------------------------------- David Booth Senior GIS Officer Merseyside Information Service --------------------------------------------- David Booth Senior GIS Officer Merseyside Information Service _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
