This question has been asked before I am sure....
I have a table of points created from the MapInfo create points for intersections on page 140 of the users guide.
The query produces a result table that has the column format smith st&&read st
The problem is that the inverse also is created read st&&smith st
whilst the second record is attributed differently, it is a duplicate point spatially.
To confound the situation further the result table does not necessarily contain two points for each location, there can be one and up to 4 points depending on how the original street line work was drawn....
SO the problem is: how to remove all but one point from each location.
I have tried some sql's to separate out street names etc but there must be a simpler way to control the generation of the points.
any help would be appreciated.
