I can't remember if it was the case for MI, but in the past in general, it
was common practice to have both 32 and 16-bit version of an application on
the CD; a setup.exe that launched setup16.exe or setup32.exe ... etc....

Obviously, unless you re-install it, your 16 bit version would remain 16
bit!

Subject: MI-L What was the first 32 bit version of Mapinfo

Greeting list,

Can anybody confirm which was the first 32 bit version of Mapinfo. I was up
until today under the impression it was v4.5.

Quite sometime ago we had v4.1 or was it v4.12 install on the network under
windows 3.1
After upgrading the network clients to NT4 with v4.1 still install, Mapinfo
appeared to be 16bit version

We have since upgraded to v6.0.

Today I reinstalled Mapinfo v4.1 under NT and it seemed to be running 32 bit
apps. On investigating with the sysinfo command it returned that it was
32bit.

Could it be that Mapinfo v4.1 installs itself as either 16bit or 32bit
depending on the operating system it is being installed under?
