You cannot rotate rectangle or ellipse because they are always defined as
"horizontal" within their MBR. If you were to calculate the coordinates of
the MBR corners as they should be after a rotation, you will obtain an
"horizontal" rectangle or ellipse with different width to height proportion.
The only way to do it is to first transform the rectangle or the ellipse
(check on the number of "sides" you need to have a good result) into a
region then rotate it. There are some tools like rotator (see the ftp site)
that can do the job but I don't not know if they will work on a layout. You
may have to make a map with each object and add the frames in the right
position on the layout.

Subject: MI-L Rotating objects
Can someone tell me how to rotate an object (ellipse or rectangle)
that I have drawn in the layout window.
I can draw the ellipses north-south or east west, but I need to draw
them at an angle of about 330, i.e. 30 west of north.
These ellipses will be used to annotate the maps and to indicate regions
that are discussed in the report accompanying the maps.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
Best regards,
Daniel Beauchamp
