Ben,

Check the Mrsid website for the free viewer. This enables you to extract
any part of the compressed image - it converts it to a tiff image and you
will need to note the coordinate extents when you extract but otherwise it
will do what you want.

Cheers

Subject: MI-L FW: Cookie Cutter for Mr. SID Raster?

Dear Mappers,

I have 4 tiled Mr. SID images that total about 2 GB loaded in MapInfo 6.0
(State Plane NAD 83, Feet, Zone V). My areas of interest are much smaller
villages dispersed throughout the geographic extent covered by the SID
images. I want to erase all of the areas between the villages to allow
faster load time. I realize I can use the MapInfo clip feature, but I
believe it does not actually eliminate the in between areas just covers them
with white space. MapInfo tech support mentioned that Vertical Mapper had
this capability, but of course I don't have the budget to purchase it.

Is there a free or very inexpensive utility that will perform this function
in MapInfo 6.0? Similar to Cookie98.mbx on the directions magazine site,
but for Mr. SID raster images?
