In my opinion the training assessment quiz referred to below is a waste of
time. The questions are poorly written and the reported results are wrong.
For example question 3 asks:

"What command would you use to open a dBase file in MapInfo? " and gives
the following options:

        File > Open dBase file
        File > Open table
        Table > Import
You cannot open a dBase file

When I did the quiz I selected 'File > Open table' but this was marked
incorrect presumably because the quiz considers the answer 'File > Open
dBase file' to be correct but there is no menu option 'Open dBase file'
under the file menu. The MapInfo user must, of course, use the 'File > Open
table' menu option and then select dbase as the file type.

The quiz is full of these types of errors. Given that the blurb says that
if you get 3 or more questions wrong then you should do one of their
training courses, I can understand MapInfo wanting to dupe people into
believing they need to spend money with them but this seems to be either a
very unprofessional way to do it or total incompetence on the behalf of who
ever created the quiz.

Either way it is not acceptable.

I give the quiz 0/10

Cheers

Martin

I'm trying to find information on the MapInfo training courses offered.
Has anyone taken them?
How do you decide to take Intermediate or advanced?

Are there any user groups in the Kansas City area?

Thanks in advance
