Hi
I'm using MapInfo V5.5 and I'm trying to do a style override on a symbol. I
wish to keep the same orientation as already exists for these symbols but
change their size and colour. Is this possible? Everytime I do a style
override the orientation changes. Any ideas?

thanks

Jason,
Have you considered using one of the DOS-Based SDTS to MIF conversion
utilities and writing a batch file to process all of them? For instace, the
late-great Sol Katz wrote a SDTS to MIF conversion utility called
SDTS2MIF.EXE. You could, for example write a batch file to process each
SDTS file sequentially:

1) Write a batch file that calls another...

[SDTS.BAT]
call trans C:\SDTS\AR\ 1234 01
call trans C:\SDTS\AL\ 1235 01

and so on...

2) Write the second batch file to receive parameters from the first...

[TRANS.BAT]
cd %1 'Where %1 is the path to the actual data
call sdts2mif %2 %2 %3 'Where %2 is the 4 digit id and %3 is the file id
for the LE file...
cd ..

I know that this will seem absolutely archaic to the "Windows Generation"
but it does get the job done!

Subject: MI-L Optimizing the Search-method in MapX

Hi

Can anyone tell me if MapX 4.5 is able using the MapInfo Column-indexing,
optimizing the search-time when using the Search-method.

As far as I can see, MapX does'n use the column-indexing in that the
search-time, when searching whith MapX is much longer, compared to the
search-time making a similar search(selection) in MapInfo.
Searching in large datasets especially i very time-consuming.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

hola nuevamente,
http://www.directionsmag.com/tools/

si no te queda claro hazmelo saber...

Hi,

We are developing both MapXtreme Java and MapXtreme NT in China.

The approach to edit annotation layer (text object) is a bit danger
since MapXtreme Java 3.0 does not support Text Object while
MapXtreme NT supports Text Object. It means, the work on NT
version cannot be easily translated to Java version.

I do not exactly knows the demand for "edit the maps with MapXtreme"
Hope I am not saying something too irrelevant to the demand.

Bien sur il nya aucune relation entre Annotation Layer et le dossier TAB.
mais..

ofcourse there is no particular relation between an annot layer and a tab.
but the only editable layer (if you are working localy with TABs)
is annotation layer. In order to edit a particular tab you must select
records
from TAB and edit them in the annot layer. This will not result a change in
the TAB file. By the way, you can use unlimited anotation layer, there is no
limit.

"Antoine Gilbert, KOREM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
I think you are wrong, annotation are not tied to a particular map layer. An
annotation layer is something like a cosmetic layer in MapInfo, no direct
relation with a tab file. Edition of informations (objects) in an annotation
layer can't result in modification in tab file (i.e. map, dat, or tab) of any
layer. But maybe it's ok for the question's sender..

Hi Anitra

You could also try Proviewer V6 which is available free from Mapinfo.com
It allows users to access tables & workspaces with most of the view,
print etc functionality of Mapinfo, although there is no editing
capability, which is perhaps what you are looking for anyway??

Just thought I'd mention that my linking program was
written in 99% Visual Basic. I find Map Basic to be
far too limited. Especially when it comes to building
a user interface. I dont think I could have (or would
have wanted) to do it entirely in Map Basic,
