“variable
or field .. not defined” is error 414. “Syntax is correct” is not an error
message, it is specific to the expression checker and appears when there is no
errors. Error
messages are listed in the errors.doc that is distributed with MapBasic. If you
do not have it, you can have a look at the “Application Backwards Compatibility”
pages on http://www.total.net/~jakesp/index.htm
I have compiled a pdf doc that lists all these “errors” and when they have appeared. The
message are generally sufficiently clear to identify the generic cause of the
error, but I have not seen a document with “explanations” more precise than the
script of the message. Jacques Jacques PARIS e-mail (>>>19.12.00)

Message----- Hello
Listers Has
anyone seen or know of a list of possible "error messages" that
MapInfo will display if a user makes an error. Such an error might
be incorrect SQL syntax. THe verify button generates either "syntax
is correct" or and error meassage such as "variable or
field .... not defined". It
would be good if the list included the cause of the error message..... Thanks
