Dyan,
I think you will have better success using the ASCII Grid Export format.
This is the same format as ESRI's ASCII Raster format and should allow you
to quickly import/export files between VM and Spatial Analyst. A word to
the wise, SA Import/Export function seems to have trouble reading and
writing files to a directory whose path contains spaces.

Subject: MI-L VM grid compatibility
Dear MI Users
I just had finished a project heavily done by Vertical Mapper. My client
works in ESRI environment. I was wondering if any of you already had
experienced the export/export issue between VM and AV/Spatial Analyst? What
I am doing is to export my grids as ASCII XYZ. the data structure for the
this format is
Vertical Mapper Grid Export (XYZ format) File =3D
C:\A\Projects\ManningFire\Cultural\TAB\Cultural\Cultural_Final4.grd
Description =3D From: Grid1+Grid2+Grid3+Grid4 ZUnits =3D CoordSys =3D
CoordSys Earth Projection 9, 33, "m", -126, 45, 50, 58.5, 1000000, 0
Dimensions (949 x 848)
Coords of Center of Cell (0,0) (1.34735e+006,495200)
Coords of Center of Cell (948,847) (1.39475e+006,452850)

1368100.00000000 495050.00000000 -0.00035000

1367800.00000000 495000.00000000 -0.00035000
1367850.00000000 495000.00000000 -0.00035000
1367900.00000000 495000.00000000 4.99997760
1367950.00000000 495000.00000000 -0.00035000
1368000.00000000 495000.00000000 -0.00035000
To import this file into SA it is necessary to crop out the fist five lines
and edit one new fist line for the field names.
X Y Attribute
1368000.00000000 495050.00000000 -0.00035000
1368050.00000000 495050.00000000 -0.00035000
1368100.00000000 495050.00000000 -0.00035000
To export to ArcInfo however, I haven't been exposed to it yet.
So far my clients didn't comply but I would appreciate comments on this
issue.
Thanks
