The easy thing to do is to open the PDF format of those files in illustrator or draw. they are small and are easily manipulated. You can open any of the PDF versions of the maps in illustrator or draw. Warning. they will come in as a single grouped object. that object will contain anywhere from 20,000 to 150,000 individual objects (primarily caused by the underlying topo map). You will not be able to ungroup that map with Draw 8 (PC version) unless it has less than 35,000 objects. You can only ungroup a map with less than 65,000 objects with illustrator 9.0.1 (will not work at all with 9.0.0). If you exceed these limits you run into internal array limits within the codes themselves (both codes) and you will get internal errors that will shut the code down. If you do an ungroup - it can take up to 5 minutes for it to work - go do something else for a while and occasionally check the machine. It will either work or give you an error code. You can ungroup them in illustrator for MAC, but I have not tested the max size that can be handled. You will need lots of ram to ungroup (and deal with) these maps in illustrator - 500meg minimum. s. figuers original message I have no problems importing ArcInfo export files (e00) into MapInfo but = digital geology map compilations from the USGS sometimes include Arc = graphic files (*.gra). These seem to describe correlation charts, = stratigraphic columns, legends i.e graphic files important to = interpreting a map but do not need to be georeferenced. Question: how can I read these files and/or import them into MapInfo. _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
