Regarding the discussion on using the Windows "Shell" functionality:
Dino Esposito wrote a fairly extensive article for Microsoft's Interactive
Developer series in August, 1998 about the Windows 98 Shell. The article
contains the code for the example being discussed as well as a number of
other ways to use the Shell. To find the article, invoke a search engine
with the words:
