Hello,
You need the *advanced geocoding* by using the *refine* processess =
[refine is part of MapBasic terms]
1) Your table to geocode needs also a region association such as city, =
zip code, census track, etc.
2) Open your streets, point table and the region table
3) Select Table>Geocode
4) Geocode Table: > your points table
5) using Column: > the address column of the point
6) Boundary Column: > column containing the city, zip code, etc [this is =
a join to the region table]
7) Search Table: > your street table
8) Search Table: > the street name field in street table
9) Refine Search with Table: > the region table
10) using Boundary Name Column: > the *join* field of the region=20
#6 & #10 must contain the same information
ie. I am Corpus Christi, TX and the CITY.TAB>Name contains *Corpus =
Christi*
while my point table has *Corpus* [typical of telephone company data]
will again fail --- search/replace points with the full name
This will automate the process but failures can still occur
Besure and add a column, say ReturnCode=3Dinteger, to the points and in =
GeoCode>Options>Put Result In Column pick your *ReturnCode* field. All =
negative or 0 values are failure and a few positives are *inexact* but =
still place a point, if odd/even are not determined then the point is in =
the middle of the road with respect to the block range.
