As a summary of the answers given:
To get a workspace into a pdf file you need to have Adobe Acrobat with Adobe
Distiller.
Go to print and then select Adobe Distiller or Acrobat PDF Writer as the
printer.
If patterns have been used in the graphic being captured, they may not be
represented correctly in the resulting PDF file if Acrobat PDF Writer is
used when selecting the printer name. Acrobat Distiller should be used if
patterns are present.
Check teh print to file box and print
A dialogue box will appear asking where you want to save it and in what file
format. Select as .ps file and save the document.
Open Adobe Distiller and open the .ps file, Distiller will automatically
convert it into .pdf format. This can be manipulated in Adobe Exchange if
desired.
Adobe Acrobat costs around $200-300 US I;m told.
However, apparantely there is a free way to get Adobe acrobat detailed in
the User group recently.
Some people have reported problems with this way of getting your workspace
as a .pdf, ie problems with precise sclaing and rotated text not being
honoured.
An alternative suggested is copyplus recommended in the
user group recently. This is downloaded from
www.spatialplus.com
this free software assembles all the tables called by a workspace to a
single location on your PC and even creates a piece of software so that CDs
you may burn, automatically present a list of the workspaces. Copy_plus
also has a zip otion to compress all the tables for emailing.
The disadvantatage of this approach is one may be be giving your
correspondents more data than you might wish and at the very least they
will need to have Mapinfo proviewer on their PCs.
One might also consider determining the printer/plotter your correspondents
will use and generating a device specific print file, which could be
emailed.
Thanks everyone
