Still on the grid generation program, and having a fair bit of success.
Have reduced the time down to 80 mins per million pixels to calculate
proportion of pixel covered by a layer and 3 other attributes (down from 7
hours). Probably still behind some of the specialist software, but serves
our needs. Actually this is the most fun I've had with MapBasic for quite a
while, which means its time to go and get some sunlight now.

But before I go,
In an example MapBasic program for grid generation provided by Andrew
Dressel, there are definitions for two types of grids, continuous and
classified. THe dll's provided only cover the continuous grids.

I surmise that the classified grids are like the discreet value grids that
are produced from gridding polygonised regions. While I have written a
MapBasic program to create a continuous grid for such a coverage (distinct
values), would I be better to write these to a classified grid?

If so, Are the the dll calls for a classified grid also available?

Thanks
Robert
