Karen,
If you have ECW files which were compressed from tif or jpeg files with
their corresponding world files then MapInfo should read these and they
should be registered. The only reasons I can think they might not be is if
the ECWs were created from images without world files or that your ER
Mapper plugin to MapInfo needs updating.
My advice would be to check that your ECW images are registered by using
the free ECW Header Editor which can be downloaded from eMapSite
(http://www.emapsite.com) under the ECW Imaging Software section
(http://www.emapsite.com/downloads/ecw_imagery.htm). This will allow you
to check the ECWs themselves...as oppose to the ERS files. If they are not
registered simply recreate them using the ERS files themselves. You may
find it beneficial to mosaic the images together into a single ECW mosaic
(this should not cause performance reductions - we load 10Gb compressed
(624Gb raw) ECW files into our GIS systems!).
If you find that the ECW files are registered then I would reload your
MapInfo plugin with the latest version (MapInfo/MapX ECW v2.0 raster
handler plug-in v6014), again available for download from
http://www.emapsite.com/downloads/native2.htm.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any further problems (or
data requirements!).
Regards
Miles Gabriel
