Dear listers, I am pretty new to MapInfo and so I am not sure how easy or hard what I'm trying to do actually is. I have over 200 dwg files which contain approx 23 layers in each file. I want to merge all the files into one for each layer, thus ending up with 23 MapInfo Tab files. The way I've been approaching this is firstly, converting the .dwg files into TAB format using the universal translator, then producing a seamless map layer for each of the 23 dwg layers. The problem I have with this method is that to produce a seamless layer, the base tables must all have the same structure. Unfortunately, they don't! The width of some of the fields within a a particular layer type, (i.e. one of the 23 .dwg layers), vary slightly. I can modify the Table structure of a file on an individual basis but this will take me a hell of a lot of time. So, I was wondering if there is a MapInfo tool or MapBasic code that allows you to modify a field's structure for numerous files (in batch)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
