This is a bald-faced sales pitch, so don't read any further if you don't plan to upgrade to MI Pro 6.5. The MapInfo 6.5 release (in USA and Canada) is scheduled for June 1, 2001. Upgrade price from 6.0 is $495 New price is still $1495 The web page describing features is at http://www.mapinfo.com/mipro In case you didn't know, you can order an upgrade now from ANY authorized reseller; you don't have to buy it direct from MapInfo. The price is the same and in most cases resellers will always give you extra personal help and support --whenever you need it and for free (I do, anyway!) Way back in 1994, it was two MapInfo resellers who set up MapInfo-L for you for free (John McCombs of Integrated Mapping (http://www.inmap.co.nz/, and myself). Also there are plenty of other resellers who offer help, advice and solutions here online whether you buy from them or not (just read a few sigs to see who they are.) Resellers also have real industry experience actually using MapInfo and MapBasic and can help you fit it directly to your needs. Why not work with an expert in your field? Anyway, if you're satisfied with the relationship you have with your current reseller, by all means stick with a winner. But if you want to shop around and you believe that this online forum is worth your support, vote with your upgrade dollars, and buy from a reseller that gives you the most for your money. Contact me if you want to upgrade now or have any questions. Please note that I can only take orders for North American addresses, but I can put you in touch with other MapInfo-L oriented resellers on your continent if you like.
