I'm interested in talking to anyone using UltraEdit for developing MapBasic and who wants to share some ideas (and language definitions.) One of my clients told me about this shareware editor, and after I looked at it I decided it was better than Programmers File Editor (PFE), so I went and spent the $30 to register it. It's got lots more features than PFE, but what intrigued me most was that you could set it to recognize MapBasic and it can colorize keywords (plus spell-check them for you.) It's easy to set it up to compile and link mbx files from outside MapBasic, too. As an editor, it's got plenty of other features I like (hex editor ability, column block editing, spell-checking, macros, etc., and it's VERY FAST with search and replace on large files), so I figured 30 clams was cheap even if I used it only for things PFE couldn't do. Anyway, you can run it free for 30 days (http://www.idmcomp.com or http://www.ultraedit.com if you're interested.) Anyway, I've started building a language definition file for MapBasic, but I'm beginning to realize that experience might be useful, especially with respect to handy macros, techniques, etc. If anyone wants to kick some ideas around about using this editor, please let me know. -- - Bill Thoen ------------------------------------------------------------ GISnet, 1401 Walnut St., Suite C, Boulder, CO 80302 tel: 303-786-9961, fax: 303-443-4856 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ctmap.com/gisnet ------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
