I currently use HandMap (~$US30) by Evolutionary Systems (www.handmap.net) to display
MapInfo data on a Palm Vx with 8Mb of RAM. Most of the maps I create are only ~40Kb
and can hold a lot of information. HandMap is Vector Based, GPS capable and has a
'copy' function so GPS co-ord's (along with other data if needed) can be recorded and
then copied to another software package (eg: ThinkDB relational database - which I
also use).

Although I don't use GPS for my application, I do create the HandMap maps from MapInfo
(via MapIt - another product from Evolutionary Systems). Unfortunately, I have to
convert MapInfo .tab files to AkeView .shapefile format first to enable MapIt to
import them. This will most probably change to accept MapInfo .tab format soon. It is
very flexible, well supported and allows you to select which layers and which fields
from each layer you wish to include in each map.

I use ThinkDB (~$US40) (www.thinkingbytes.com) to collect the data in the field (in 3
related tables), using HandMap to get the correct property reference - to allow for
geocoding later on) sync ThinkDB to the Desktop and drop all my THINKDB records into
M$Access and run pre-written queries to generate the appropriate tables to Map with
MapInfo.

This system works well, is quick and saves a LOT of time re-entering handwritten
records into M$Access.

If you have any further q's. please email me,

Regards,
