Juanse:

I use Garmin etrex venture (the least expensive one) a Visor Delux and
GPSPilot's Tracker  (www.gpspilot.com).  Can use Garmin as alone for
most activities.  Tracker is great for field notes.  The Garmin is good
in the rain (supposed to be, that is).

Problem w/Garmin is irregular nmea output.
