Hi,

Just another comment on this issue:

If you install MapInfo ProViewer - and for that sake a MapInfo Runtime,
MapInfo Pro - on a server, there might be a problem using the MapInfo Map
Object from Word and other programs using OLE.

But of course if you never use the Draw Window tool, you can live with
this.

Best regards,

Peter

Just a quick update to let you know that we have been successful
(at last) in getting Proviewer to run over a network.
The problem as identified by Paul, was the .mru file.
However by making this file editable (by all) on the server itself,
we have found that everyone can now run from the server version
without any hiccups.

Apparently Proviewer can be run from the server but the "most recently
used"
file (Proview.mru) needs to be editable by anyone using Proviewer. I have
not tried implementing this as yet.

This is not quite related but i thought you might be interested. We run
ProViewer from a CD for some of our off site offices. We write the
ProViewer Install from a local install and copy it to the CD. It runs
fine,
which leads me to believe that it doesnt use local registry files. From
the
CD ProViewer tries to write to the history file ProView.mru, but pops up an
error saying it cant (due to the CD being Readonly). However if you edit
the file ProView.mru to only have one entry and then write it to the CD, it
does not produce the error.

Thanks to all.
