"LBS is not mostly dependend on mobile phone. You can read these overvies
for brief orientation in this technologies :

Mostly GPS methods that use satelites navigation needs special handset.
Others require network changes - software or hardware upgrade. Network
solutions are then dependent on what is the operator hardware and what is
the vendor LBS solution. Some vendors support only special network hardware,
etc...
