As others have mentioned, it should depend more on your skill set than on 
which software you have mastered. If your primary skill set is that you 
know MapInfo inside out then you are definately worth less than a "GIS 
Analyst", whatever that is. However just because a program is harder to 
learn doesn't make it intrinsically more valuable. Think of the early 
versions of WordPerfect for Dos or WordStar, powerful, hard to learn, 
absolutely useless nowadays. I dream of the day when people say the same 
thing of Behemothware like ArcInfo.
