I'm a little reluctant to jump into this water because it's getting pretty
hot.  And I know the feeling of being out-muscled for mapping jobs by
companies with more money and ESRI software but little in the way of
cost-effictiveness.

What worries me is the new version of ArcView 8 that was supposed to be
released last month.  I have not seen it yet but it is supposed to
incorporate the new standards from ArcInfo 8 which include true radius
curves, 3 point curves and maybe even spiral curves as are found in
AutoCAD.  For some subdivisions and engineered roads I think these are
essential elements, certainly for a lot of surveys which need to be
incorporated into parcel mapping, which is where I think this thread
started.  So in that sense I think there is some truth to allegations that
MI is not up to snuff.

I hate to play the devil's advocate here but sometimes you have to give the
Devil his due.
