Thanks to those who helped me out.  The solution was to convert the tfw =
reader so that it could convert the jpgs.
Russell Lawley wrote that the JPW format is reportedly identical to the =
TFW format, so he re-coded
the TFWread mbx to accept JPGs as well. It is important to remember to =
tell the programme to open a raster file
called a jpg (not a tif).
