I think your comments of MapInfo's future has relevance.
With the documentation I've read on MapPoint 2002's list,
and the possibility of:

1.) Import add-on tool programs via VB, Java etc. for translation of *.shp,
*.tab, & Gov standard layers,...

3.) Fully compatible with all MS Office products as sources of data input,
data & image output,...

2.) with full (US & Europe) street level detail, plus US zip codes and
census boundary data
all complimentary...

3.) At an excellent price point,

... this 5 year perspective was refreshing.

The long-term market consequences, particularly from the 'GIS
Manager/Business Altitude Point of View',
is the best scale to view the surface layer of this significant GIS software
challenger.

Fore-warned is Forearmed. You have been warned. Thank yoou, come again!

With due respect, what happens to MI stock, what insiders are doing, all
that stuff indeed DOES impact us users, programmers and other product
related
people. I am not particularly interested in who made how many $'s on MI's
run up in a (fading) bull market, or whether someone's retirement dreams
have been realized etc. but the business things completely drive how we
"users" will make decisions. Especially user managers. If MI is going in a
direction away from where I need to go, I need to know earlier rather than
later. If I deduce that MI may not even be here in 5 years and I get caught
up in a printing problem and not notice the direction of the entire
company - I'll be in trouble soon.

I agree with Marc,

this discussion is leading nowhere. I've been
following it from the soft shoulder. It bothers me
that the list is used for these type of discussions!

We are users, programmers and other product related
people, we're not related to the MI company!

I hope this is the final statement on this topic.
