Thank you to everybody who gave me assistance in this matter, it turns out in my case that it was a problem with the printer connection itself rather than MapInfo. The printer connection was reinstalled and it works fine. Below I have included a quick checklist for troubleshooting complied from advice I recieved: Possible reasons for a workspace opening to be slow: 1. Printer connection - making layout opening slow. 2. Network connection (try copying files locally to test) 3. Use of complex Query Tables. 4. ODBC connection 5. Raster images/logos. 6. Text in the layout window.
