You could try altering the file Mapinfow.mnu from the mapinfo
professional directory. This file contains mapbasic code that builds
all the standard menus. This is useful as you can add your own menus
that you always want available (this is how I use it!) Perhaps you can
edit this file to remove the map menu, I haven't tried it myself so I
don't know what happens - though I suspect it will throw up an error,
worth a try though :-) Another problem of course, is that this change
will affect all sessions of mapinfo, even those where you don't want the
change!!
Just remember to back up the file first!
