I would like some general advise from the group on the best/easy/efficient
way to set up the following on a CD (if possible)
I am working with our local geological society and between a few of us, we
have more than 120 geologic guidebooks of our area (going back to the early
1950's). Some of the guidebooks are quite scarce (only 1 or 2 copies known
to exist) and we are in the process of creating PDF files of all of them
(including the maps). We would like to set up an interactive mapping program
where someone would see a map of our area (zoom in as necessary) and then be
able to click on an outlined area or specific symbol that would bring up
either (a) basic info about the guidebook(s) for that area, or (b) bring up
the digital version of the guide book itself.
The other want is to create a fully interactive geologic guidebook (and
convert some of the older guidebooks to interactive).
this can be done on the web, but can it be done on a stand alone CD? What
types of programs/codes would be required, and what major types of problems
will we run into?
