Chris,
Are you always storing your MapInfo files in the same location on your
computer?
You said you created the workspace on your computer with his, right?
Assuming that your MapInfo files are always on your computer why not try
this....
Simply map the directory on your computer as a network drive, let's say
drive M (to do this go to Windows Explorer, tools menu and select map
network drive option). Then go to your co-worker's PC and do the same -
map the directory on your PC as drive M on his PC.
You both now have drive M on both PC's, which is in fact the same directory
on your PC which contains the files.
Now it doesn't matter if you save a workspace on his PC or on your PC, in
any location. As long as the files that make up the workspace are located
on 'drive M' then it won't matter. Just make sure you access that directory
through the mapped drive, not via network neighbourhood.
You can check to see what's going on in a workspace by opening the .wor file
in a text editor. Use your co-worker's PC to open some MI tables located on
drive M and then save a workspace to, say MyDocs. Then open said workspace
in Notepad. You will see that there is a line containing the path to the
files, in this case M:\blah blah blah.
Hope that helps.
Richard

Subject: MI-L Opening files on a network
Hey guys,
I have a simple network - two computers attached with a cross-over =
cable. My co-worker tries to open a workspace that I created on my =
computer with his - of course what happens is MI thinks it cant find any =
of the files because the path to an single file is different for evey =
computer. There has to be a way around this ....... is there??
Thanks,
Chris
