Greetings List,

Does anyone have a solution for showing parallel bus routes on a map?

Bus routes are mapped along road sections - different routes in
different colors. The user wants to retain the geographic accuracy of
each route i.e. along the road centerline but be able to see visually
that there are a number of routes on one section. That means being able
to see the different route lines along the road.

Mapping out the lines parallel to the road does not retain geographical
accuracy and has visual drawbacks when one route is selected which is
displaced at a distance, beyond other routes that were mapped nearer
and are not now shown.

Having two map schemas, one for geographical accuracy and the other for
viewing raises major maintenance problems.

A third possibility could be writing a function which will dynamically
spread, for viewing purposes only, the different lines parallel to the
road section chosen.

Any ideas, experience or suggestions will be welcome.

TIA to all responders. Will summarize received advice.

Best regards,

Alex Eshed
