I am running Ver 6.5 with Windows 2000 and have encountered the same
problem. In my opinion having to save numerous version of the same
workspace due to software buggs is unacceptable. MapInfo claims to have
never heard of this problem, at least now i know I'm not the only one. I
have found a goofy workaround, if the layout window is selected when you
attempt to save the workspace you will get the error "Unable to save
workspace", but if you select a mapper window and then save it should work.
Occasionally this doesn't do the trick, in which case i select any object
within the mapper window and the software will save the file. Let me know
if you come up with anything better.

Subject: MI-L MI MapInfo and Window 2000

List,
I am currently using MapInfo 6 on Windows 98 but visiting one of our
offices in Europe where they have installed Windows 2000...with a few
problems. I already mentioned the few solutions I found on the list, like
giving the users all administrative rights, but it did not fix one of the
problems they are experiencing.

It seems that the users are not able anymore to save a file or a workspace
under the same name as the previous version. They have to rename everything
and end up with a few dozen more files than they should and thus are
experiencing hell with their workspaces!
Has anyone heard about such a problem and solved it?

Thank you and have a great day
