I do not know of a way to stop MapInfo from automatically changing the map view.
If anyone knows, I'm sure others would be interested, too.
This feature of MapInfo is one of the many reasons why I find the Named Views
utility indispensable. You can load this tool from the Tools > Tool Manager...
dialog. Then you can save any particular map view and go back to it again when
you want to. Without Name Views, MapInfo will only go back to the previous
view. (Map > Previous View) I use Named Views all the time.

window every time you copy and paste an item from one layer to another?
