Steven,
Unfortunately, the answer is no. The Integrated Mapping functionality of
MapInfo is exposed through what is called an Automation Server. This resides
inside of the MapInfo Professional executable, so in order to use it, you must
have MI Pro installed.
If all you are using from MapInfo is mapping functionality (as opposed to
graphs, browsers, etc.,), you might consider investigating MapX. MapX is an
ActiveX control that can be brought directly into Visual Basic and is
redistributable (for a nominal fee to MapInfo :-p) with your application.
