Hi Alejandro, There are a couple of unknowns in your equation, which might be a potential source for problems. You say you have 2 PC's. Does that mean the tables/files in question is located on a file server ? And if so, what networking access do the 2 PC's have ? As far as I know, MapInfo always opens tables in read+write mode if possible. When you say "... but in a ReadOnly mode", I assume that you talk about using the MB statement "Open Table ... ReadOnly". I'm not entirely sure that this implies that the actual file opening is read-only, just that the table is write-protected in your MB program. But maybe other people on this list have different opinions and/or experiences ? A way to test it, provided you're using a file server, would be to only grant PC2 readonly access in the network share setup. Then MapInfo is forced into opening the table readonly. Maybe that'll solve it ? And I don't think anything has changed since 5.0 in this respect. I have a problem and I need help please ! We use Mapinfo v5.5 and MapBasic program compiled over 5.0. The platform = is Windows 2000. We have two PC. On PC 1 I have a very simple MapBasic application updating all time a = table (inserting, deleting, etc). This application Open the table in a = FastEdit mode and inmediatly after inserting, deleting, etc I do a = Commit Table. (So, I think never are there pending changes for more that = miliseconds or a few seconds !). Also we set the File TimeOut 100. On PC 2 I just open the same table but in a ReadOnly mode. Also I have = set the File TimeOut 100. The problem is that when I want to pan, zoom, etc sometimes (almost = allways), appears the next message error: Cannot access file XX.dat for reading. Please be sure that this file is not open in another application. Is it possible to fix this ? The newest release, fixed this problem ? I will appreciate a lot your help Best Regards Alejandro _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body. _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
