Hello Bruce,

I don't know about following the directions in the book, but if you just
open the example provided with MapBasic (MFC based) it should get you on
your way.

I believe the example is a MDI application. If you wish to work with Dialog
based, you may need to change a little but not much.

It does however sound like your not actually making the automation
connection. So I would start by making sure your OLE connection has worked.
Remember, OLE has its own exception handling so just because it doesn't
succeed, it may not crash your app.

Subject: MI-L Integrated Mapping - C++

I hope someone out there can help.

I am an amateur developer using Visual C++ - and trying to integrate a
MapInfo map into my application (to impress the top brass!) - I have
followed the instructions in the MapBasic book to a tee - but nothing turns
up, just a blank screen !
I do get the message dialogs like "Hello from Mapinfo" etc, so do have a
connection, but no map shows up.
Even if I then open a .tab table, I only get a blank screen, although the
table name is now given in the title bar.

This is driving me insane.

Help anybody ?
