Hi Joe, I would think you'd need to commit the table fairly frequently, or better yet, issue a "Set Table ...FastEdit On Undo Off" before adding data. Otherwise the temporary transaction may become to large. And in such a case it's quite unneccessary. Anyway we have a routine to export data to MI using MI automation. MI is run in the background using GetObject and mapbasic commands are sent to create the table and enter the data row by row. After about 4000 rows MI would hang and have to be terminated by killing the process. If that occurred when we tried running MI again either by automation or as an application it would hang. As an application it would not produce any error message. It would just sit there and consume 99% CPU time. Also reinstalling MapInfo would not fix it. Infact the only way to fix it was to reformat the drive and reinstall everything. We have found a way around it, by saving and closing the table every 100 records and reopening the table and repeating this we can avoid this problem, we are wondering what is causing the crash though and especially why mapinfo would not run afterwards. Any info would be welcome. We are using VB6 SP4, WinNT 4.0 and MapInfo 5.5 Regards and thanks Joe Dineen [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body. _______________________________________________________________________ List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MapInfo-L" in the message body.
