I have experimented a bit using a tiny 5-row table and
the MapBasic window, and
CommandInfo (CMD_INFO_ROWID)
seems to work every time, selecting from mappers or browsers,
or by typing a select statement in the MapBasic window
without any document windows.
You will need, of course, to look up the value of
CMD_INFO_ROWID from your "mapbasic.def" file.
