Having received reports of rude out-of-office robot replies to MapInfo-L messages, this message is being used as bait to find out who is doing this.
Here's the policy: If you go on vacation and set your robot to brainlessly reply to all mail, including MapInfo-L messages, your subscription to MapInfo-L will be canceled. You can resubscribe when you return, but nobody on a mailing list gives a tinker's damn to know you're on vacation while they are not. These robot messages are annoying and they hurt the flow of the mailing list (who wants to post messages when it causes a flood of out of office replies back to their mailbox?) The solution is to unsubscribe yourself from all mailing lists BEFORE you set a mindless robot to managing your affairs while you are gone. Out of Office replies should be used to inform people who are directly and personally trying to reach you. They are inappropriate for use with mailing lists. If you want to continue to receive mailing list mail, then use a filter to route list mail to special folders so that this incoming mail won't trigger O. of O. replies.
